As the Eid (End of Ramadan) approaches, insurgent and terrorist activity will begin to make a comeback.
This was made abundantly clear today in the Eastern Afghan City of Jalalabad.

The Consulate was the intended target, but many of the injuries came from a nearby Mosque.
At this time, the US is closing many of its Embassies across the Middle East, and North Africa. Probably with good reason!
As of this writing, we are all safe here in Kabul, and are taking extra precautions in light of the recent events.
For those who may be concerned, the compound I am staying in is EXTREMELY SECURE and would be very difficult to attack. Not to say that we are immune, nobody is immune over here from attack. But there are very good security measures in place here to mitigate the risk as best as possible.
My thoughts and prayers go out to everyone affect by this senseless act of violence.
Hopefully having UN insignia is safer than USA.
