Two Trips Done

Well, the flying is going great!  The airplane is so much fun, and SOOO FAST!

I've got 2 medevac's under my belt now.  Getting a little more confident in the plane now and what it can do.  Learning a few different techniques in how to fly it, and get the most out of it.

I've now officially flown the highest and fastest I've been at the controls of an airplane!  39,000 feet and Mach 0.78 (which is about 515 kts).  The Dash 8 only did Mach 0.40 (which is about 270 kts).

Here's a couple of pictures, from 36,000 ft yesterday on the way back from the Maritimes.

Crossing The Gulf of St. Lawrence

Level At 36,000 - On Course for Toronto - Mach 0.75 in Cruise

Let's give you a little info about what you see here in the picture above...

Behind the coiled cable on the left of the panel, that's the Audio Panel which controls what radios we listen to.

On the control yoke top left, is the autopilot and trim control.  If you press the barrel in a particular direction, the autopilot will steer the plane in that same direction.   By depressing the button on the top of the barrel (the hat).  You disconnect the autopilot and trim the aircraft itself.   So...  Barrel alone, autopilot trim.  Hat and barrel, airplane trim.
The Push-To-Talk is around the front side of the left hand hold on the yoke.  On the right side of the yoke is the Pich-Sync button down low, and the Control-Wheel-Steering on the top.  The bottom button places the flight director in sync with the pitch attitude you're flying.  The top button temporarily disengages the autopilot and will re-engage it when you let the button go.  This would be used when you have to avoid another aircraft or something like that.

With the inclusion of these destinations in Newfoundland and New Brunswick on these recent trips, I've flown in every province in Canada, with the exception of Nova Scotia and PEI.

I'm looking forward to all the new destinations that I'm going to see with this job.  Europe season is coming fast!  We'll see where this new job takes me!

Stay tuned for more...
