Some New Travels

A lot has changed in the past couple of weeks.   Sorry again for the delay updating the blog.

I've been chosen for a fairly significant feather in my cap.   I'm going to become an Approved Check Pilot!  This is a Transport Canada position which allows me to conduct Pilot Proficiency Checks and issue ratings for other pilots.  In a sense, I become a representative of Transport Canada and conduct flight tests on their behalf.

I've been quite busy over to some new exciting places!  More flags to add to the collection!

We've recently traveled to Edinburgh, Scotland.   Here are some photos:

A lovely day in Barcelona, it was about 26 and just a nice breeze.

Rambla de Santa Monica and all the "patios"   Even the McDonalds had a patio.

On the way back to New Jersey!   Via... The Azores!

Waiting in Line for Takeoff on a rainy day in Teterboro

A couple of days later I ended up headed back to Europe for a trip to Stansted just outside of London, and then a hop over to Ronneby in Sweden.

For those who are curious -  This is what the Atlantic Ocean looks like.   One of the clearest days, and a vast expanse of NOTHING!

Stansted Hilton - A Classic Ferrari in the parking loop.

The Qatar Air Force C-17.  In the back was a large Helicopter so the Royals didn't bother having to Charter.  Because who wants to have to worry about that!!!  First World Problems!!!

A SAAB 105 in Ronneby, Sweden
Our taxi driver said that Ronneby was one of only 2 fighter bases in the whole country
The SAAB Gripen in Ronneby

The Monk's Steps in Ronneby

A restaurant / house fire.  Arson was suspected by a person known to the owner of the restaurant.

The streets weren't painted in Ronneby - The lines were actually made of stones that were a different colour.

 Ronneby Center for the Arts

Supper Time!   Authentic Swedish Lebanese Cuisine!   HAHA

The Church of the Cross - Ronneby

Ronneby as seen from the Water Tower

My most recent trip was a "domestic" flight to Florida and then Indianapolis.

This is my first trip with the brand new camera, so hopefully the pictures will get a little better here!

Billy Bishop Airport - Toronto Island

Apparently Frequent Visitors to Halifax - Brand New from the Factory
Gulfstream 280

The barely visible nose in the back is a Gulfstream 150

The G150 (formerly the IAI Astra Jet), and the G280 (formerly the IAI Galaxy) are a combined effort between Gulfstream Aerospace and Israeli Aircraft Industries.  These aircraft are built in a factory in Israel and flown to the finishing facility in Georgia for completion and delivery.

The aircraft are completely bare inside, with only very simple bulkheads installed for the ferry flights to the US.

The larger aircraft are either built in Georgia or are of sufficient range that they do not require a stop.  So only these smaller birds are seen in Halifax on a somewhat frequent basis.

I say "smaller" but a G280 is no small bird.  They are quite a bit larger than the Lear 35.

That's about all for now!   Off to Germany tomorrow evening!   More to come!
