Still Plugging Away

Well, the days go on...  We fly occasionally, a little more often now.  So basically, we're still plugging away over here.

The crew is working together really well, and the airplane is coming into its own nicely.  The majority of the parts we needed arrived, and a lot of the stuff has been taken care of.

Today was a very long day and a first for me, not only in Afghanistan, but at R1 Airlines as a whole...   We flew a child today.  A mother had her 2 1/2 year old daughter on the plane with us today.  Cute little girl.  The mother works on a project, here and will frequently be travelling with us between Bamiyan and Herat.

Before today, its been exclusively Male and Female on the airplanes so far.  No children, and no infants yet for me.

The long day was because we have no agents at a couple of the stops we did today.  So when we need to check in passengers, a WFP Agent flies with us.  He or she has to check them in, search them, search their luggage and security screen everyone prior to boarding.  Now, because the agent flies with us...  None of this can be done in advance as it would be if an agent was already on the ground there.  Tis a necessary evil however, and we'll take the delay for stuff like that if it means a safe operation.

Tomorrow is the standard north run.  Kunduz, Mazar, Maimana, and back.

A couple of pictures from today...
