British Airways Flight 109

Another wonderful showing by British Airways!

I hate to say it, but they make our National Carrier look like a joke.  The service is incredible!

As soon as the Cabin Service Director saw my RAIC, she immediately began apologizing because the flight was full, and that I couldn't be upgraded to First Class!   Wait... What???   Upgraded because I am Aircrew?!?!?!    Yes, Indeed!  A little something known as Professional Courtesy.

It probably would have made the flight much easier to bear, as there was a VERY DRUNK passenger behind me who though that operating the touch-screen on his seat meant that he had to smash his finger into the seat so hard he was almost touching my BRAIN!

It's called a touch-screen, not a smash-screen!

To top it all off, he made about 10 trips to the lav on this 6 hr 45 min flight.   Grabbing at my seat, and slamming his tray table up and down each time.

I don't mean to go off on a rant here, but needless to say, I did NOT get any sleep...

The flight this evening made excellent time and had us in Dubai right on Schedule:

We crossed the North Sea at the Thames Estuary, and reached landfall on the Coast of France, near Dunkirk.

After crossing briefly through Belgium on the way by Brussels, we carried on through Germany.  The cities of Frankfurt and Nuremberg were not far off our wings.

The ever-continuing march across Europe also brought us close to Prague, Vienna, Bratislava, Budapest, and then across the Black Sea.  We then continued along our way passing over Turkey, and a small sliver of Syria.  Iraq brought us close to some now familiar names due to recent events in history...  Namely Mosul, Kirkuk, and Baghdad.

We crossed the Persian Gulf near the Iran / Iraq border and the city of Abadan.

The remainder of our flight continued on over the Persian Gulf, taking us past Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar, and finally the United Arab Emirates.

The food on the flight was again top-notch!  With a middle-eastern Lamb dish, served with a rice and nut mixture that was a good compliment.

Dessert this time was a Dark Chocolate Mousse with Butterscotch Sauce.  Mmmm Mmmm!   Delish!

With the Arrival into Dubai at around 8:20 local time, we deplaned and proceeded to Passport Control.

I greeted my Control Officer with the standard, "As-salamu Alaykum" (Peace Be Upon You), and he replied "Wa 'Alaykum Al-Salam" (And Upon You Be Peace).

After the basic questions, he stamped my passport, and I carried on my way.

Let me tell you, IT... IS.... HOT!!!!   35 C already at 8:30 in the morning, and HUMID!

After a short drive to the hotel, I checked in without difficulty.

Which brings us to right now...  Blog Update Time!

Here are the customary photos that accompany this entry...  Enjoy!!!
