Heathrow Airport and Yotel

Well it's official.  I'm in Foggy Old London!   Has not lived up to its name today so far though...   It's been a beautiful day here.   Nice and warm outside, sunny skies.

Unfortunately I was in an aisle seat on the overseas flight so I couldn't take any pictures on landing.   However we did see Tower Bridge (often mistakenly called London Bridge, where London Bridge is actually a modern bridge a few hundred yards away), and Wembly Stadium.

After a bus ride which seemed to drive all the way across the airport, I transferred from Terminal 5 to Terminal 4.   This is a MASSIVE AIRPORT!!!  Here are some photos along the way...

Once inside Terminal 4, after clearing UK Border Protection, it was a very short walk to the Yotel.  I wasn't quite sure what to expect, and it certainly did not disappoint.

Yotel is a very interesting concept in hotels.  There are locations here at Heathrow, Amsterdam, as well as downtown New York.

The rooms, or "Pods" as they call them made me feel more like I was on a cruise ship or my own little cabin on a train or some sort of spacecraft.   As you'll see in the photos, the room is not very large.   As I lay in bed and stretched out, I could touch both walls.   The bed was in a small cubby off to the side, with a narrow aisle in the middle and a folding table that came out off the wall.   Directly opposite was the bathroom.  Again, very narrow with only a toilet, small sink and shower.

Despite how small it was, the room was actually quite comfortable.  It was exactly what I needed for my brief stopover.

I'm now sitting down to a meal before boarding for Dubai.   Thanks for reading and I shall update again soon!
