Off to AFGHANISTAN!!!

Let's take a brief moment to recap some of the recent goings on in my life....  A new truck that got clobbered in an accident.  A boat that's not running as well as it could be.  Not knowing what to eat for meals from day to day...    TALK ABOUT YOUR FIRST WORLD PROBLEMS!!!

Well, this evening, I'm off to a place where all of those things don't really matter all that much anymore.  I am travelling to a location where most people's goal is to just make it through the day with having something, ANYTHING to eat.  Not, to mention trying not to get caught in the cross-fire or involved in an attack somehow as what the news so politely calls an "Innocent Bystander"

This evening I depart on the 3 day journey which begins in Calgary, and ends in Kabul.   Yes, you read that right...  Kabul, Afghanistan.

I will be working as a pilot for the United Nations Humanitarian Air Service (UNHAS), as part of their support to the World Food Program (WFP).

The World Food Program has been involved in Afghanistan since 1963, and the Humanitarian Air Service provides Safe And Efficient Transportation to ensure that they can reach the people who need their help the most.

My little corner of the Internet here will serve to keep you all up-to-date on the goings on while I'm overseas.  I also hope to give you some insight into an area of the world, and a people that few would dare to visit amidst recent events.

I will be posting regularly to try and let everyone know how things are going.  I will also try and include photos and video as much as possible.
