We celebrated American Thanksgiving with some other staff at a house downtown in Kabul. There were about 9 turkeys with all the trimmings, and many wonderful people there. About 30 of us showed up in all and it was a great deal of fun. Though, I began to feel sick so I had to leave early. The rest of the crew stayed until around midnight.
Friday we barbecued about 100 chicken wings and had a little bit of a relaxing afternoon. The internet has been quite lousy here as of late though, so not really able to do a whole lot...
Today was a good flying day. Did the northern run around the country and met a crew that was doing some video and photo work in the area. I didn't have a chance to catch who they were working for. But, hopefully they got some good footage on our departure from Faizabad this afternoon.
Speaking of Faizabad, here's a new perspective for you...
From the roof of the Faizabad Control Tower
The baggage for the flight is all lined up next to the wing like this on every flight that uses the basic security procedures. Once the passengers line up to board, they identify their individual bag. It is then moved back towards the wing by about 1 meter, and the loaders take it away to the cargo hold. Any baggage that is left over is removed from the vicinity of the aircraft and attempts are made to identify it.

Tomorrow is a short day for us which could be even shorter. Depending on the safety and stability at one of our destinations. They are "White City" right now which means no "Non-Essential Movement" for UN Personnel.
That's all for now! See you all tomorrow!
