Another Day of Flying Done

Got the chance to fly again on Thursday here.   After a bit of an exciting morning we were off to the races, only 4 hours behind schedule.   Those of you who see the news will know what happened, those who didn't are probably better off.   I'll spare the details in here.

Ran into an old friend in Bamiyan.  The Copilot from East Horizon that showed me the AN-24RV that they were flying before.  Apparently his company traded in the keys for a new aircraft.   A Xian MA60.  Basically a Chinese Upgrade to the AN-24 which was produced starting in 2000.  So by some standards, a very new aircraft.  Still in production today, it retains many of the features of the original, but with a modern touch.  It is actually equipped with Pratt & Whitney Canada Engines, similar to the Dash 8 (PW-127 vs PW-123).

Very Modern Compared To The AN-24

Nice New Interior

The Props are a Give-Away but the rest looks very similar to the vintage aircraft.

Also flew to Jalalabad this same day, and as you can see, it is still very active in that area.

Sea-King Helicopter

Pair of AH-64 Apaches off to get some Bad Guys

Bamiyan Airport is now paved as well.  I should be able to get some photos on Sunday when we fly next.

Hope everyone still enjoys reading!   I'm going to have to think of some things to type about now that we're not flying as often anymore.

Enjoy your weekend everyone!
