Well dear friends and fellow readers, the time has come once again to say farewell to Kabul. It's been a long tour and in the beginning at times, an eventful one. Largely overall though, another positive experience.
Special thanks to the UN as always for having us here to assist them in this important mission, and giving us the opportunity to give something to the people who need it most.
Thank you to my crews that I had the opportunity to fly with. Crystal, Kyle, Andrea, Nickie, and Michelle. You all made this a very good tour once again. Kudos to you all for your hard work.
Best wishes to Jay as he takes over the role, and continues our hard work over here.
All the best to Moncho who is enjoying his time off right now, and to Laurent, I hope your toe gets better soon! Stay off it for a day or 2 and you'll be right as rain in no time.
It doesn't really feel like a departure this time. As many of you know, I'm doing a double rotation so this base, and the routine here has become well... Routine. It's the norm for me to be over here right now, so I don't feel particularly excited as I did in rotations past.
Tomorrow in Dubai, I shall probably just continue my regular stop of going to get a Milkshake at Millions of Milkshakes (which are UNREAL by the way), and just going about my day. Bumming around the mall, seeing what's new, and what's what.
It appears that it's going to be beyond acceptably cold when I arrive back in Calgary on Tuesday night, really not looking forward to that. I hope my truck starts! There's a chance of snow which sounds ridiculous!
A few days in Calgary then off to Manitoba to check out my new camper! I am pretty excited about that part!
All the best everyone! Until next time!
Safe travels! I'm sure your Mom and Dad will be happy to have you back on Canadian soil! And it won't be THAT cold!
